Meg Harrington, PhD

PRINCIPAL RESEARCHER

Meg Harrington is a researcher whose work combines motion capture, musculoskeletal modeling, and data analytics to better understand athlete performance, and injury risk.

She completed her PhD in Kinesiology at the University of Toronto, where she examined movement patterns and hip joint loading in athletes with and at risk of hip pain. During her doctoral research, she established a hockey research program focused on goaltender biomechanics, developing innovative laboratory and on-ice research protocols to answer questions related to early sport specialization, common stance mechanics, and age-appropriate net sizing.

Meg also brings practical experience from hockey and athlete care. She has coached youth goaltenders with Goalie Engineering and the Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association, worked as a student athletic therapist with University of Toronto varsity teams, and previously officiated for the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association

.

Her approach connects rigorous scientific methods with an understanding of the people, environments, and decisions that shape sport.
